Russian State Duma may prohibit retailers to charge suppliers for access to retail shelves

The Committee on Economic Policy of the Russian State Duma recommended to the lower house to pass the bill prohibiting retailers to charge suppliers for access to retail shelves.

Victor Zvagel’skii, one of the authors of the bill, said, “now it is not possible to enter any retail chain without any payment”. In order to solve this problem, it is proposed to ban retailers to charge suppliers for the right to supply products. Previously, such relations are not regulated at the legislative level. The document assumes that the retail chains and suppliers will not be allowed to create discriminatory conditions and barriers.
