Harvesting of one of America’s most popular apple varieties – the iconic McIntosh – starts this week in New York State. Jim Allen, the President of the New York Apple Association, remarks that thanks to the abundant summer rains and the sufficient number of sunny days the new season apples are remarkably rich and big. The growers mention the high quality of the crops. The expected crops amount will reach 590,000 tonnes, which is 90,000 tonnes bigger than the average amount. The McIntosh share of the total production is 17%.
